Emergency Communications

FEMA CoursewareLinks

Public service is an important part of Amateur Radio.   We are proud of our ability to provide assistance in the form of emergency communication services during fires, earthquakes, servere weather, and other disasters.   We maintain a significant investment in equipment and personal skills that is available at any time, at no cost, in the event of local events or disasters where conventional communication systems are unavailable or overwhelmed.

In contests such as "Field Day", held annually in June, we test our ability to set up rapidly and operate in remote locations with emergency power for long periods of time, and we have fun doing it! Here are some links to web resources related to emergency communications in Oregon (if you wish to suggest a link that should be added, send an email to the Webmaster).
